Awkwafina

Awkwafina was an American actor and performer who made her name with smart raps that addressed gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew into Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came in the form of trumpet. Later, she began traditional and hip-hop training. While in her schooling, she specialized in the field of journalism as well as women's studies. She also studied Mandarin for a while in Beijing. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. It also included other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. This track was directly linked to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in 2015. With musician and author on her resume she began looking for an actor for a third venture. Aside from early TV programs like Girl Code and Tawk, she's been featured in films like Neighbors2Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed several notable performances, which included Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
